Figuring Out How to Fly.

Figuring Out How to Fly.

A Poem by Katy Craig

'Cause baby I like your braces,
 All those silly faces,
Boy you knock me off my feet.

Every time I hear that song,
I start to think about what went wrong,
And it brings me to my knees,

Oh, it's when you look at me,
That I start to believe,
That maybe humans can really fly,

'Cause you know,
Baby I've always liked your braces,
And you still make those faces,
But now I can stand on my own two feet,

If you ever get the time,
To open up your mind,
Maybe we can figure out how to fly.

Very nicely done, I enjoyed this, well written.

This piece has a playful, yet serious tone to it. On one level, the surface, it can be seen as a girl speaking to a crush who has made an impact upon her life and dreaming of a possible future. The other level is more mechanical...such as the braces being like a shoulder to lean on. The faces might represent good times and the last stanza ends either level with a beacon of want and hope.

Wonderful Ink Katy!
