Mom

Mom

A Poem by myrmal
"

A poem about my mother's death when I was 10 years old

"
Mom-
Where are you going mom,
sit with me, eat cereal mom
Why can't I come along mom,
I wont spill my Froot Loops mom
I don't like to be alone mom,
but you say I have to stay here on my own mom
Wait teach me how to braid mom,
let's play another game mom
Hug me when I'm scared mom,
we're running out of time- mom?

Now I'm so confused mom,
they've just told me the news mom
They say you've passed away mom,
you did it with a gun mom
Nothing is the same mom,
my past feels like a movie mom
School is really scary mom,
kids are saying bad things mom
They don't know what it's like mom,
I've gained a lot of insight mom
The world's a scary place mom,
you shoved it in my face mom
You said you'd never leave me mom,
but you're the one that did it mom

Thinking of you is sad now mom,
I've forgotten the sound of your voice now mom
Your memory is a scary beast mom,
help me tame and cage it mom
If I keep myself numb mom,
I can keep you in a locket mom
You're separate from the beast mom,
When I'm high I can feel your hug mom
Nothing can stop me now mom,
as long as I have my drugs now mom
I'm working everyday mom,
and taking pills and smoking mom
They said I coped well mom,
I never even told them mom
How scary you had become mom,
imagining your body dead mom
I'm running out of cash mom,
can't let this beast outrun me mom
I thought these drugs were friendly mom,
but now the beast has doubled mom

I'm doing the best I can mom,
I wish you could've stayed mom
I would share my bowl of cereal mom,
then we'd hug and go about our day mom.

Your loving daughter,

Myranda
