Mismatch

Mismatch

A Poem by Mystica
"

Judgemental and closed minded people.. *shakes head*.... Sometimes I want them to just hear how ridiculous they sound, so here it is.

"

Blue and green cannot together be worn.
Pastels need blacks and whites in order to form
a suitable outfit, to display stylish fashion.
Been telling you forever, blue with green is a sin.

You accepted it until now, why the sudden change?
There's no openness in our minds, to let you rearrange
your sights, preferences, it's been this way for years.
Stop your crying, these are unnecessary, un-called for tears.

It's human nature, pastels can't be with other pastels.
Who are you to deny god? You are only yourself.
It's unnatural, silly and wrong in many ways.
I forbid it, I'm sure these sinfull fancies will fade.

Stop your screaming about your own personal happiness!
Are you really so selfish? It shouldn't be like this.
It's only a phase, soon you'll prefer black over blue.
The world can't change all it's ways, for little unimportant you.

There's a lot of insight in people's words when they want to tell us how things should be - especially if we feel, act, or believe differently. "Mismatch" is a great word for these things. Different, unique, alternative - perhaps synonyms we could consider as well. People who consider rigid, staunch ideals to be the best are truly baffling because there's no adaptability in those thoughts - why can't we do pastels and just be happy? Why can't blue and green be worn together without commentary? The last stanza is really where I feel in my heart the meaning lies - to want so badly to feel happy, to live happily, as if your own happiness is a defiant reaction to someone else's well being. In many ways, it isn't the world needing to change that's the problem, but the people in our lives needing to be less rigid and cruel. Sins and guilt don't do anything but put fear and shame upon us - perfect for living miserably, right?

well, i mean, why being a happy sinner when you can be a miserable saint, right...?
god said this, god said that, well, someone said: f**k it, they make up god, so they can have unwritten laws.... shame on them....
you did a good job here, but I guess it depends on the reader the most.....
