A Poem by Nan
"

in honor of friendship

"

I told her that I love the sculpture
we're working on, as we change
the shape of space that lies between us

and space has become the frontier
I want to erase, where vibrations of light
encounter no barriers, sharing becomes
a watercolor painting that has the touch
and feel of love as art.

I think it's how we search for the stones
in each other's paths, how I can tell her
it's ok to trust her feelings, or she
unravels my meaning from a confused thread
of emotion

how she admires the sinewy beauty of
David's hand carved in marble, knowing the path
of the mysterious, eloquent, sage
is inherently the pond we gaze into

Thanks to Emily Burns for sending me the request for this.
It's a really lovely poem, using lots of descriptive images. We can really feel the love and friendship.
The layout is appealing too.
Thanks for sharing it with us.

This a beautiful poem, I can see the friendship in your words, a friendship of someone close and dear.
a watercolor painting that has the touch
and feel of love as art.

the reference to the watercolors, I picture it as the friendshop spilling into each otheres being.

Excellent write.

hm again I loved how you wrote here about your and her friendship. how looking at the same art might be a different experience, seen and felt and not defined, this happens between the breathing between words. "think it's how we search for the stones
in each other's paths," --------- this was my favorite part (though I loved each line) yes I think yes we are comparing the reality with what we think is reality and might be negative for a new relationship we simply try to avoid to make mistakes.. sometimes, we are even too cautious, aren't we? "sinewy beauty" never thought this way about a male arm / hand. what can I say than this poem has again wonderful poetic magic and your voice, I truly loved it. not to speak about the depth that it is exactly how you have seen it...

I thoroughly enjoy the scope of depth you relinquish through metaphor, the images are classic,
the sculpture in ways reminds me of a relationship, or those thing the heart put effort into,

as reflected back, how space is the frontier .. the inhibiting factor, before reaching toward
the light, where are and love collide like so many particles of light, in many ways you capture

what it means to exppress the definition of musing itself, and the beauty of creation.
Inisghtfully founded truth as eternally percieved through the Poet's soul. Thank you for sharing this.
Take Care, Mike

Your words are very insightful. You are very spiritual and very creative. You have practically left me speechless in coming up with comments.

You have great depth in your pieces. You have transcended the need to have fundamentals explained or critiqued into the deeper essence of your piece.

You are one of the best writers here.

A wonderful piece

I haunt the recent reviews to find lovely works that I might not meet on my own. When I saw Sel's review, I knew this must be a treasure. Deft fingers practiced in the art of molding words carved something so elusive and captivating that I wonder the page can contain it at all.

This is so exquisite and beautiful. I adore the way you use (...not just here, but throughout your poems the extended metaphor of art...). For me, there is a great closeness in the production of a piece of art and a great friendship builds up with those you work with. You've shown this so sensitively:

and space has become the frontier
I want to erase, where vibrations of light
encounter no barriers, sharing becomes
a watercolour painting that has the touch
and feel of love as art.

It also shows the physical and psycholgical closeness you still aim to create. I love the depiction of her character and how you aim to soothe this, the aspirition and tenderness of:

how I can tell her
its ok to trust her feelings, or she
unravels my meaning from a confused thread
of emotion.

I love this poem altogether.
