God's Tiny Creatures

God's Tiny Creatures

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

God’s Tiny Creatures

Ladybug perched on windowsill

Dainty black and red

She’s a beauty, oh yes she is

I think I’ll name her Liz

Fireflies swarming on the breeze

Fluttering wings take flight

Soaring over hill and dale

Lighting up the night

Butterflies flutter in colorful display

Leaving magic in the air

Such beauty to behold

Fuzzy Caterpillar to beauty fair

Bumblebees buzz from flower to flower

Spreading pollen as they go

Watch out they sting if you get too close

You’ll holler ouch don’t you know

Honeybees weave such sweetness

Adorned on tables everywhere

Must be gathered carefully

It will sting if it must share

Wasps and Yellow Jackets

Beware their painful sting

Do not venture near their nest

When winter turns to spring

There are many other creatures

See if you can find them all

Count them, list them, jot them down

Bugs that are so small
