![]() JubileeA Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader
Jubilee He worked all day in the fields She kept her house with pride Reared eight kids in the old farm house He and his lovely bride Their special tree planted with care Saw years of picnics in the sun All eight kids played beneath its brances When their farm work was done Many happy hours beneath its leaves Wileing away church social time With friends from far and wide And listening to the church bells chime Years have passed and in their old age She helps him bathe under their special tree Planted when their love was young On their first anniversary jubilee His hands are gnarled Her blond hair has turned gray Make ready for the sixtieth jubilee The kids came to enjoy their special day Before their next jubilee Death will close their eyes Rest in peace beneath the tree Until they jubilee in the skies © 2009 Nancy Lee Shrader |
