Haiku Eskimos

Haiku Eskimos

A Poem by Nancy Lee Shrader

Eskimo Family

Haiku Eskimos

Igloo, they call home

Constructed with blocks of ice

Abundant substance

There’s no grocery store

Hunt for whales and polar bears

Self reliant folk

On frozen tundra

Clothes made from animal hides

Water repellant

No automobiles

High gas prices not seen here

Travel by dog sled

Lovers rub noses

In their houses made of ice

Trying to keep warm

Could you imagine having to live this way. It seems nice in some ways, but very difficult in others. A very discriptive write about their lifestyle campared to ours.
