Dissociating in Biology Class

Dissociating in Biology Class

A Poem by Natalya Pavlenko

When you look up at the sky
Do you ever wish to fly?

Fly away to outer space,
Feel the air against your face.

You can fly high or you can fly low,
It does not matter where you go.

All that matters is going far from here,
To a place where no one will see your fear -

The fear that is faced my you everyday
The fear that these feelings will never fade away.

Outer space
Will offer solace.
Outer space
Seems almost flawless.

This planet in comparison feels plain,
And will eventually drive all of us insane.
