They Never Call My Name

I'll keep playing these silly games. What else can I do?

They call me fat,
They call me skanky,
They call me b***h,
But they never call my name.

They're my friends,
Truest of the true,
But I have yet to see,
If me and myself are the same.

I guess it's whatever,
I think I'll pass life on,
I'll stick to their labels,
I'll keep playing their game.

Posted at the bequeath of my lovely best friend Arushi. Also: this is one of those poems that have no bearings on real life. I'm sure I was channeling another persona.

This is such a powerful poem. You give us all a sense of what so many face.. living in ridicule.. longing to be known, but resolving to be whatever others say. There was a time such thoughts nearly ended my life, so this resonated deep for me.
