The club of the unclaimed

The club of the unclaimed

A Poem by Naomi Moore

The club of the unclaimed
You joined because,
One day in your mind you made the move to decide,
You are worthless, your life is cursed and
Nothing on this earth could make you feel okay.

Your friends, they hate you.
Your family you’re a mistake to.
In the world of false truths
No one could ever love you.

You climbed out of your window,
And made your way down the street.
Followed the silenced cries,
To where you’d been told that they meet.

You entered the building,
That blocked out sunbeams.
In the coldest room you found them waiting,
While they watched you pacing,
Eyes glazed with ink.

With courage built you rushed over,
Prepared to solemnly preach,
Sure of the compassion that you would receive,
When telling of all the atrocities
You've been put through,
Just to get to
The point where you were them.

When you heard that you were wrong,
You undertook the steps you needed to belong.
You meticulously tugged down the zip in your skin,
Climbed out and then,
Took a parting glance at who you’d once been.

No one else understood the importance of
This mission you were embarking on,
So you ignored them all and suffered withdrawal,
Until it was time to part.

Which up to this moment leads
However, as you begin your speech,
You begin to notice, as an effect of the closeness,
The absence of a certain mystique.

The cold air became just that,
The darkness just black.
Emptiness remained vacant.
And your heart just as stark.

Your head splits with alarms,
But I fear you’ve come too far.
Your vision blurs,
and your head, it hurts.

You try to leave,
But exhaustion claims you.
Without skin your unprotected form falls to the floor,
To join those of your brothers.
                                                                                                                                                             Unmoving bloody bodies,
With quiet hearts.
