A Ghost of Me

A Ghost of Me

A Poem by Nemophilist Meraki
"

love lost... and ourselves with them

"
Take a breath|
Hold it

And in that breath,
a moment

A moment that I gave to you
And with it, all that breath

You say 'It's all in the past'
As if that numbs the heartache

But it's okay
I gasp
I scream

And then

I breathe again.

I get back up and smile at you
to try this love again

You cannot say I didn't try

I tried
and tried again

You took my heart and beat it up
And told me that was love

You told me to stop fighting
And that just made me stronger

But my blood
on the floor

It took away my hope

I could keep on loving you
Until the end of time

But what's the point in loving someone
Who only hurts you back?

They can say they love you
With all of their heart
But how can they watch you bleed
And not get torn apart?

And you, my Love, you said the words
Told me that you cared
Despite all of the pain

And in the end,
Despite my cries,

You
walked away.

Author's Note

Nemophilist Meraki
Now I will say now this poem is probably pretty bad on a lot of levels. It's been a while since I've been writing poetry for fun and this is kind of a new beginning.
That said, judge as you will. I shall not be offended.
