heaven to me

heaven to me

A Poem by J.M.B

it’s not the fear of failing,

it’s the fear of success

that’s scary,

some stumble

into the Olympian arena

of celebrity page gossip

columns,

front page headlines,

while others stride

with juvenile tenacity,

thinking it

a heaven,

losing as they win,

while all around

outside

buzzing flies

take panicky snapshots

of their poor naked souls

exposed

that never asked out loud;

“why have i been made

to think

fame equals success?”

“this has become a hell”.

well,

the people love fallen heroes,

to please them

one must be jailed

or die,

it’s a Jesus, Kennedy,

Luther King,

DeSade thing!

a bug in the machine.

heaven to me

means

nameless nothingness,

a speck of light

against light
