Concerning the Past

Concerning the Past

"

I would say this is a perspective piece of ponderous question I have had, but can never be resolved.

"

Fifty-six peered over with pen in hand.  Thirteen newly announced lands of sovereignty held

breath of the future unfolding before them.  One deemed mightier above all by a faceless deity set

forth into a torment of anger.

It was in these truths held with resolved conviction that an untold number of lives would be

altered. And now, we, in greater number, difference of appearance, diverse thought, and vast

distances celebrate the acts of these fifty-six.

But, we must also wonder what would the affairs of the state be if those fifty-six were not so

homogenous.  The further evolved we would have become if others were allowed access to such

decisions.  The ink would have dried differently, our resolve for humanity reflected more resolute.

And yes, it is with hindsight that their signatures can be judged, but it is with this hindsight

that we can make sounder decisions upon our present and future by adhering to the truths of the

 past.

For those fifty-six we say thank you for standing for some measure of character, for the

thirteen, admiration for forwarding on, and for the anointed one, a rousing cheer for altering your

standing over the years.

But for the now, we must not become trapped in allure and mythology of the past.  Seek

the truth, respect honesty of our forbearers, and avoid the reiteration of our scars.
