What's the Difference?

What's the Difference?

A Poem by Nick A
"

Lust versus Want. What's the difference? Written to Shad - Rock To It instrumental

"
A young lady talking to a young man,
they're walking down the street and he grips her hand,
it's the first time and it takes her by surprise,
she was confused by the look gleaming from his bright eyes.

I want you,
he says to her quietly,
she stares back at him,
a gaze felt by him violently.
You want me? Or you lust for me?
She asks imagining ill intention.
I know the game well, it's no new invention.
He looks back perplexed and frozen,
and then regains his composure,
in his head he's angry but the light he will show her.

I want you, I don't lust for you.
He says.
What's the difference?
She says.
A questioning look in her eye.

The difference is,
I see the beauty behind the beauty.
The smile behind the smile,
if you know what I mean.
I can see the reflection of your soul shining through your eyes when you're smiling,
I can see the radiant radiance of real beauty and I'm happy to be trapped in it's radius really.

Well that's sweet but are these even words that you mean?

Girl, I don't see you as a tasty treat, you are a queen.
You are the type of girl I would parade down the streets.
Not as a trophy for me but because beauty like yours deserves to be seen.
God creates a lot and most of it goes unseen,
to keep you locked away would be a travesty.
You are the type of girl I would be content with spending indefinite time with,
the kind of girl that if the moment ever arose where physical attraction grew close,
and we became intimately attached like toe-to-toe,
I would take my time with every moment.
Every little motion, every gesture, and every action.
I would try to freeze each second and hold it,
let it sink in and appreciate it for as long as I could.

Every touch generating sparks of intense energy,
bouncing around the room like the remnants of an explosive.
Like the grand finale of a firework show.
I would try my best not to lose control but I would be lost in your world.
Completely absorbed in the connection between us.
Because I want you, not lust.

She stood in disbelief,
he was unsure if she thought he was lying or just trying to comprehend the words he speaks.
She gripped his hand tighter and gave him a kiss,
and these are the memories in which I reminisce.
