Run

Run

A Poem by Nicole
"

I wrote this quite a few years ago when I was 16, so this piece is a bit old now

"
Standing at the top of a cliff,
The ocean crashes beneath me.
Your voice still resounds across the water,
Your scent is still carried in the wind.

Yet, it doesn't matter..

Turn around and run,
Away.
Always away.
No matter how my heart aches,
Or how my head spins,
The distance is needed,
Perhaps now more than ever.

Get away.

We're just fine as friends,
I just need some more sense.
If you don't want to be more,
Neither should I.
I'm not like that.

Run.

It burns to feel your touch,
Bleeds my arms to hold you.
It pierces my heart to want you.
What's a few holes, compared to you?

Run.
Get away while you still can.

A girl has met her match,
At the bottom of the cliff tonight.
She said goodbye,
And was consumed in the tide.

But the memory...
lives on.

Leave.
Run fast, Run far.
But always know,
You're an addiction.

Touching,
"We're just fine as friends,

This whole stanza has such a relevance to my life right now. Great write. Extremely well penned.
