Peace (Part 2)

Peace (Part 2)

A Poem by Nicole

Peace be with you
Because my piece is with me
Tucked neatly between the seams of my jeans
See there is no way for me to achieve peace
Because as long as there are people with a piece
I will never be able to eternally put down mine
Love…is there really tranquility in love
Because even the one above would choose a gun before a hug
I'm marching with rifle in one hand truth in the other
Shaking with my trigger finger
Wrapped around this enemy soldiers soul
I could kill this man with a bullet
I got the gun all I have to do is pull it
Increase the peace
Protest with poems not guns
And it goes
P pushing the envelope to pack deeper pockets
E euphorically reaching for elevated echelons
A affirming action with audacity
C changing the current conditions to calm
E evading extra excessiveness
She was what most claimed as a hippy
Deceived by only the enlightened thinker with infeasible revolutionary thoughts
Unity was all she sought
Gave it a name, called it peace
So wear your peace symbols
Pinned proudly across book bag and chest
Because in this rat race freedom comes second best
We can’t have a piece of peace
So piece it together
And these are the voices of peace
Voices of…voices of…
Peace…peace…
