Going Out in New York City

Having finally turned 21, I’ve decided to spend a few weeks in New York to visit my best friend and I’m determined to have the most amazing night out ever.

"

Growing up in the small rural town of Davidson North Carolina, a wild night out was getting drunk and hanging out at the local coffee shop that stayed open until… wait for it… eleven pm on the weekends. Upon graduating high school I decided that small town life just wasn’t for me and moved to LA for college. Partying there meant getting groped on the dance floor by a seemingly unconscious newly initiated pledge bro on frat row. Now, having finally turned 21, I’ve decided to spend a few weeks in New York visiting my best friend (who goes to culinary school there) and I’m determined to have the most amazing night out ever.

So what makes a good night out? After years of careful analysis I’ve come up with three simple rules for a good night out:

A)                    Bring a good group of betches that are down for whatever. Like Lindsay Lohan. Well, more like the Lindsay circa mean girls, not the one on parole.

B)                    Go somewhere with good music. Though we may differ a bit in our musical tastes, I think we can all agree that the Rebecca Black dub-step remix is not ok. Not even for a frat party. It’s just " no.

C)                    Find a place with amazing drinks… and by amazing I mean strong. The stronger the drinks are the better the party. I say this because if the Rebecca Black dub-step remix comes on and your friends have left you to go make out dance with random dudes" you won’t remember it anyway and chances are you’ll at least think you had a great time.

As long as these three rules are followed (or at least rule C) you’re guaranteed a good night. Although at this point my fantasies about the clubs in NYC mirror what I’ve gleaned from the past 5 seasons of Gossip Girl and from what I’ve read online. The people, the parties and the young handsome millionaires strolling along Fifth Avenue, I can’t wait!
