The Sky Cries for Us

The Sky Cries for Us

A Poem by Vines
"

This event in my life was definitely an experience I don't think I will ever forget.

"
TV light gleaming on the streaks trailing down my face
The grief from the Heavens streaking like a cascade
A dark room illuminated by the photos of dozens of goodbyes
The cheerful music couldn’t plug the mourning now pouring outside

Two years pass and I watch my own photos pop up onto the screen
And yet only a few tears could pass my mask, so serene
So the clouds hailed down in a big, ugly wail
The sky cried for me from my Pyrrhic prevail

Purple cap and gown, I sink into my seat
The grief has been conquered, a numbing defeat
But up above the clouds pound down in a cry of a roar
The sky cries for me once more

Tassel swaying to my left, goodbyes fill crowded spaces
Past and future rip me back and forth from all the familiar faces
With boots on wet road, I peer up at dark clouds and state in my head,
“And so the sky cries for us once again.”
