Stay Silent

Stay Silent

A Poem by mae23

Silence. We are all silent.

We see endless hurt and pain

It surrounds us

But our mouths are sewn shut

By the fear

Of the words we dare not speak.

So we shut our eyes

Pretending there is nothing to see.

Our secrets are not our secrets

They are the secrets of those around us

And yet we keep them

Thinking they are ours to keep.

Are fists clench

As we try our hardest

To block away that which we do not like.

Our fingers graze the truth

As they close into a fist

But they only graze

They do not dig.

Honest and strong poetry and thoughts.
"Of the words we dare not speak.
So we shut our eyes
Pretending there is nothing to see.
Our secrets are not our secrets"
The above lines are true for real life and our world. We hide from the truth. This is bad. We must scream and demand change and help. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.
