Word Compounded

A poem I initially wrote for Bumbershoot. I don't think I'll read this one though.

Meaning better together,

stronger together.

It's a dewdrop that

means 'dude, rop'.

It's big, it's bite,

it's nothing sugar, just 

straight up spice.

It's inktense,

it's briefcase

it gets you curious 

enough to give chase. 

It doesn't fit, shouldn't 

sound right, but the rhythm 

slips off your tongue like

your mouth is just black 

ice. 

And it's natural, 

this punch of words.

Not supernatural.

Not preternatural. 

This lunch of black ice 

slipping from hot lips

reciting one word poetry

that only asks how it came

to be. It just feels right, like

you and me.

And it makes us

and the words match. 

Like one sock saying 'better'

and another saying 'stronger'.

Because that's what we are

 together.
