Anna

Anna

A Poem by nothing grinner

Have you ever felt so utterly useless?

I know I'll feel this way again!

I've felt it befor, in loss, that pain-

But never will I feel it more than the ones who kenew her best,

I could never imagine the grief,

I can only guess.

In the caple, we filed in-

We sat in our lines and waited for the sermon to begin.

Such chill I felt as Anna passed by- with her family who carried her in,

Beautiful was her coffin, so light, so wight, so small so thin.

I'm sat thinking- her body's in that place,

but where is Anna with that smile on her face?

I'm looking for her, in the crowd

on the walls that surround,

through the windows in this building we are housed.

Then i find her- In everyone's heart

Now tears are shed because we all feel we are so far apart.

I'm in my thoughts, lost to that template of "in god we trust"

I'm thinking of the young and beautiful girl that we all knew,

If only briefly, she touched my heart too!

Now I peer into her past, I'll cherish this picture,

keep it close to my heart.

Because all we'll have and all we'll find are memories!

these still-framed windows into her past,

her timeless face in a photograph.

Sleep now sweet Anna, your memories for keeps.
