Light

A single, adored candle

Burning brightly as the sun

Held in my trembling hands

Showing the deep places

Forgotten crevices in the earth

From which dark things stir

It protects me always

Having but one desire

For me to be happy

I don't know what life will bring

But I love my light

I promise I will be happy

If only it never leaves my side

Now my light is gone

It's illumination distant, faded

But I keep my promise

For my forgotten light

My love and happiness will abide
