World of Hallucination

World of Hallucination

A Poem by Gaige

People say life isn't fair
But it turns out alright
In clips and phrases
You just have to bother
Not to care sometimes

Sitting there on my sofa
Lost in the haze
Intricate beauty masked in eyes
Caught wide open
Staring at kids
Who have never been bothered
By why's and why not's
Or the pursuit of time
They just live
Without letting life
Pass them by

I close one eye
And I shout ARR!
In a place crowded with strangers
I'm a strange man
In a strange place
Pretending to be an alcoholic pirate
Although I'm pretty damned sure
Most pirates were alcoholics
So that's an oxymoron
Ignore me please
I'm a regular moron

Acid is fun
And shrooms make me a fun guy
(that's a clever pun involving a drug)
Someone once asked me why
I like to get high
I was astounded
Looking him dead in the eye
With the grin gone from my handsome mug
Politely, profoundly and with a shrug
I asked him a question instead
Rather than reply
"Do you really need a reason
To enjoy your only life?"
So I lit a joint
And blew the smoke in his face
He smokes to this day
