Telling Silence

Telling Silence

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

How splendiferous the obstacles we so anxiously avoid.

"
Telling Silence
               by Odin Roark

How humble the eyes
Gazing upon willing walls
Plastered
Spackled
Rolled
Faded chipped peeling

Summary billboards these
Time’s almanac of once upon a time
A spirited reflection of weathered light and color
Preserving survival’s history

Life’s mandatory confinements
Creation’s layered separations
Passageways ever seductive
Holds firm within its roofless maze

As if imitating the ancestral bark of trees
Stubborn walls too horde depiction’s traveling images
Imagination engraved faces and eyes
Both man and beast layered
For tomorrow’s reflective discovery

We peer down along
Through around and about
Such partitioned mapping
Knowing all of existence
Hosts but one entrance
One exit

Our only enemy…

Self-loathing’s wrecking ball
Threatening today from becoming yesterday
Arcing to destroy preparation’s tomorrow
And imagination’s continued telling silence
