The Me of You

The Me of You

A Poem by Odin Roark
"

In a world tenaciously crushing love with hate, we may someday be left with only our slumber for dreaming about a peaceful planet.

"
The Me of You
              by Odin Roark

If only in my dreams…

Beneath closed eyelids,
Reflection awakens the unspoken I long to tell you.
But even as roads present destinations ahead,
Passion’s swollen waterways
Can flood the high ground once reserved for respite,
Rendering distant horizons but a blur,
Their invitation perpetually in abeyance.

A squeeze of the eyes,
And like airwaves bending to obstacles present,
Infinite towers of amorphous antennae rise,
Connecting unsealed letters spoken softly,
A hesitant quill folding time’s memories
Through morphing cycles of timelessness.

Slumbering beneath the beat of your heart,
Time asks I never cease sending
The reverberate ripple of my breath,
Enjoining the drifting dunes of your patience.

Perhaps…

One day the storms of your thunderous echo
Will arouse the sound of our forever,
Beckoning we realign yesterday’s compass
For tomorrow’s destination
And the focus of our horizons.

For now,
A smile will do
As another pink moon rises
Casting the you of me,
The me of you,
In loving shadows.
