A Darkened undertow

A Darkened undertow

A Poem by Souladareatease

lulled

by the winds

swept through high trees

I lay dreaming

my hands

held out for vision

as I watch the lines

drawn upon sifting sands

withering branches of dying leaves

float down

there...

the embattled black stream

clipping

the rows and rose

of pleated feathers

flown aloft

now skimmed and skipped

like a rock

to suddenly stop

taking the plunge

for evermore where

a light is lost

never shining

not even...

reflection

as caustic peppers

burn

deepened imagination

blotting out

forbidden

giving skies

to alas

continue flow

A ramble perhaps. But I clearly saw one slip down the side of an embankment until they reached the water and were pulled beneath. A deeply symbolic write.
