Trust

Written for an Albert's Poetry Cafe contest. Read&Review please.(: Not my best by far, but I needed to write.

Standing on the cliff

Known as your arms

Reserves down

Heart open

Don’t look down

I told myself

 

But do you ever

Not look down?

A far drop

From the safety of your arms

No longer in control of myself

Fearing my release

 

A journey so new

Your eyes reassured me

Abandoning my previous conceptions

I had stepped out

Onto the tight rope

Known as love

 

Like a helpless bird

My wings were broken

I held on to your promise

And all along I felt
As tender as a crystal
Ready to be shattered

 

 

My life preserver back on land

Far from these stormy waters

Yet your promises were empty

Your arms were weak

They let me go

Falling into the deep of my sorrows

i really like the image you made in my head with this. there are so many people who feel betrayed to there loved ones, who just want to fall. the flow of this poem is excelent, and i enjoyed it very much :)

I really liked the honesty in this! The one thing that we all can trust is that people are human.. they will let is down in some way.. when, why, where or how.. it could be little or big.. when it's love no matter what it hurts! People have HUGE expectations of each other.. smothering, jealousy, timelines.. I sometimes wonder how so many are able to make it work.

This ends really sad.. so many do make such big promises out there.. I try not to make promises I can not keep.. I love you is said often way to far in the beginnings of relationships..the plunge is usually way to fast to be real love. REAL LOVE takes years of balance and work.. good and bad combined.. with plenty of forgiveness.. as real love will almost always forgive.. I hope you find trust and love in another .. everyone needs love.. great job!
