Life In The Key of Blue

So many colors and textures to live within

One shade blending with another to create

Glorious hues of life’s widely varied palate

Laid in lights and darks of contrasting love

Textured words can cut deeply or soothe us

Our glorious nature is revealed within them

Reflecting soul in each word we use to paint

Life is a living illustration of those choices

Technicolor abstracts of lives lived in truth

A blend speaks hotly of thoughts reflected

Intentions are not hidden in our paintings

The colors we choose speak about our heart

Disdain can not be colored and made beauty

Hidden secrets leap off the page and bite us

Our shades don’t lie they are speaking truths

Every tone has its beauty and refracts light

What do the color of your words say of you?

Do they scream chaotic or whisper mercies?

Art is subjective, some see beauty within it

Others may see nothing saturated on a page

Like words that don’t speak in helpful tones

Every luminosity and pigment has its place

The wavelengths of words painted in tinges

Are your paintings garbled or crisp and light?

You raise questions re what choices we make from our vocabulary, lexicon , calitwhatyouwill, reveal about us. Problem is that the listeners or hearers know many of the same words, but may hang different interpretations upon them dependant upon their own personalities and life experiences. Often I feel my chosen means of expression are but smoke for me to hide in. That does make it seem as if I live in the key of blue. I am sure there is a truthful version of me out there, in here somewhere, but meantime I'll tell wee stories and look for clues.
Interesting stuff.

Thank you so very much for the review, it is deeply appreciated.
this is a painting in words...and blue my favorite color...it can mean serene..but could mean sadness...there is a wonderful combination of the two.

Thank you, I sincerely appreciate your review and happy you enjoyed it.
Veronica, this is such a pure writing. I enjoy the thought provoking lines, without being challenging and taking the reader to a defensive stance. Excellent presentation.
"What do the color of your words say of you?
Do they scream chaotic or whisper mercies?"
Wonderful questions presented within a peaceful flow of words. Nicely penned!

I paint. I feel poetry and paintings are both connected in some way. One could hear poetry from a beautiful painting. And a very beautiful poetry is considered as a tastefully done painting. Yours is a very great painting :)

Thank you ever so much for your thoughtful review, I sincerely appreciate your words.
I really like the three line verse form here, and the clever content about the subjectivity of observation or personal taste, this has been written with care and thought.

Your words are a delight to my spirit and are deeply appreciated. Thank you.
This could never be considered a still life because it vibrates on the page, such gorgeous thoughts and imagery here.

Disdain can not be colored and made beauty
Hidden secrets leap off the page and bite us
Our shades don’t lie they are speaking truths

That verse reminded me of a quote from Maya Angelou, “The first time someone shows you who they are, believe them.”

Brava Veronica.

Speaking as a painter this has broad and delicate brushstrokes. and just the right combination of tertiary colours to bring the whole composition to lovely life.

I love this, I love how you have blended colors and abstract form into your peom. This felt light and free and ahhpy, in a sense. Color do live on in all of our lives, some bright, some muted and some faded, but colors just the same. Very cool Veronica.

(I thought you were going to let me know when you psoetd a new poem?????)
