Balloons

Balloons

A Poem by Omar
"

Illusion

"

I toss them around,

And they float in swirls

Of pretty colors.

I pity you"

Disillusioned Child

Buoyantly they

Skip merrily through the air

As I flail ecstatically

They levitate

Higher"higher

O, Beautiful Rainbow!

Pulsing!

With such intense colors

My heart beats with what I call
Life,

As though I know

What it is

In this matrix of mine

And when I grow weary of all this

False fidgeting

I decide to rest"

Next to my Disillusioned Child

They gracefully sink to the floor

And Pop

One by one,

They explode

Into a confetti of bitter colors"

Once light and airy

But my heart did not stop beating"

I believe

I have been disillusioned,

After all

I love it. We've all had a bubble or balloon burst and even though we were disappointed, we continued on. That's probably why they make so much money on mylar balloons now.

Great write! Give us more!

I am a fan of free verse, and it's amazing that you've delivered one with such powerful metaphor, i can sense the frustration from things the persona has towards what could have been. what an amazing writer you are!

The realization of dissapointment seems to be abound in all of us at one time or another. I love your use of words and style. You write very well.
