Nocturnal Rose

Nocturnal Rose

A Poem by Omar

You shine noise

And pale light

Static and synthetic

Ersatz God light,

Cascading upon

A nocturnal rose

That had mastered the art

Of growing in the mossy

Shadows of your

silence

Bent

Over

Backwards,

Backwards,

Backwards and now

Like webbed grapevines

Hanging children

By the neck

The sky of absence

That spiders above the rooftops

Like an eclipse--

For nights on end

You left me to speak with

Lacking

And four walls

Neon rose

Bred on concrete

And city lights

You cannot

Pretend

You are the sun

To a betrayed

Rosebud

Now, no.

I will not be poisoned by guilt
