Perpetuity

Perpetuity

A Poem by Chase

In this bed i lay.
In this bed i stay.
Drowning as the time ticks by
And withering away.

Minutes turn to hours and
Hours turn to days.
My stomach grumbles loudly yet
In this bed i stay.

The plants need water,
Me as well.
Instead, we both decay.

In this bed i lay and
In this bed i stay.
Confined within my unkind mind,
Life is kept at bay.

Quite apt for the current situation, but can also be interpreted for a person suffering from clinical depression. As my mum says, "wherever you go, there you are!" You cannot out run your own self.
I like the comparison with the plants that need the water and are decaying from the neglect, just like the speaker.

I really love those lines. Simple but haunting.
