All I've Needed

All I've Needed

A Poem by Lillian
"

I want really brutal critiques. I've had writer's block forever and I know I could do better, so be really nitpicky. thanks! :)

"

Whose blood is pumping through my veins?

Mine began to drain when first I spoke Your name.

You stripped off the cords of my cares and confusion

As I waited for You.

Waited for You to perform the transfusion.

You gave me every ounce of Your blood,

Told me, "Dear, how you are loved."

I looked at You.

Smiled at You.

I turned and walked away from You,

Forsaking the life, the sweet love You gave.

Whose blood is pumping through my veins?

I drink in his kiss, try to ease the gnawing pain,

Insufficiently fulfilling this gaping hole,

As I stay here with him.

Stay with him and hope he'll make me whole.

I give him every ounce of my heart,

Hoping we will never part.

He looks at me.

Smiles at me.

He turns and walks away from me,

Leaving me far emptier than before.

Whose blood is pumping through my veins?

Mine alone can't seem to cleanse me of this shame.

Little to give in my misery, I wallow.

But I call out to You.

Call out to You in a whisper, so hollow.

You wrap me tightly in Your loving arms,

Tell me, "Dear, I've waited for You."

I look at You.

Smile at You.

At last, inhale Your sweet embrace,

Accepting the love I sought when I left You.
