Emily

Emily

A Poem by Onlyme

We had a cat called Emily
Dear sweet Ems for short
She was white as the driven
snowflakes that descend from
heaven above at wintertime.

She was a true dear sweetheart
She was my little soulmate
my friend my comforter.
My little love.

Her pink little pads on her
dainty feet and her cute
bonny face. And her gorgeous
green-yellow big eyes.
That shone like light beams
in your direction. When she
wants a cuddle or a feeding.

She used to snore out loud
at times. When she slept.
And loved to play and have
belly tickles and fun.

Oh, dear Ems.  How much we
miss thee still. But we will
always remember you
with such fondness
and comforting love.

My dear forever friend.
Sadly gone but never
forgotten.

We grow so very attached to our pets, don't we? Each one of them has its own characteristics, their quaint little ways, their own little routine, and when they aren't there anymore, it leaves a huge hole. Your little poem, a poignant reminder of how much we miss them when they are no longer with us.

Our animal companions become part of our life. When they are gone, you feel an empty spot.

That is so true, Jon.
Very sweet. I have had several dogs but miss my Kelly so much! It has been a long time but I still, will always love and miss her. Dear Ems. Never forgotten.

We do love our animals. I liked this poem. I had many cats for my daughter. Now the leftover cat became my cat. My companion and favorite fan of my writing. Thank you Dee for sharing the amazing poetry.

Thank you, Casper. She is adorable. Never forgotten.
I lost my tabby two years ago that I had for almost nineteen years. It broke my heart to have to put him to sleep, but I insisted on holding him as he was injected. It truly is the most kindest thing we can do for them. They are so much more than just our pets, aren't they? Take care and hold tight to the memories. You will meet again!
