How I wish...

How I wish...

A Poem by Onlyme

I stare out the window at the stillness
of the beauty all around

the birds flying past
the flowers in the garden
opposite my home
and the chitter chatter
of children playing
nearby, I hear.

Oh  how I wish I had that joyful serenity
back in my own life.

Instead of constant stress and anxiety
of never-ending hopelessness and fear.

Building up like a whirlwind in a hornet's nest

Smash and hit me.

the reminder of hell knocking
at my door.

What an amazing and interesting look on the perspective of the observer inside the house. We notice when we are being watched, but we don't notice the person. We don't think about why they might be watching, or what is going on inside. We only think about ourselves. I really like the idea of the poem, and the way you ended it. It gives an outlook on how everyone has their own individual thing going on, that everyone struggles. I'm going to mention it again, I really like the last stanza. I especially like your word choice of "the reminder." It's a perfect way of showing how one isn't always stuck in their fear, or their reality, but they are always drawn back to it. Again, this is an amazing piece. Terrific work.

Thank you, Jimmy, God bless you kind sir.
I feel the despair in your words. Can’t do anything but exhale and take each day as it comes. Then inhale, let go and slip into the softness of sleep, to face another harrowing day awaits. That’s life. A great poem 👍🏼

Thank you Eve, for your very insightful thoughts and review.
It is so hard when we feel the darkness within. Light seems right there...just beyond the touch. Seems so unfair, so disheartening, so real!
