Who Knows? For I surely Do Not......

Who Knows? For I surely Do Not......

A Poem by Onlyme

Is God, actually a figment of our imagination
and something humans over time. Wanted to believe and
give themselves  God, hope, faith and understanding?

I am struggling with God in life and death.
If you are born then you die that much we all know.

The rest learned from the Bible and holy books,
as well as human self-beliefs in someone higher than us all
meer mortals on earth.

or maybe an atheist is an snswer?

 Am I lost?

Religion is always something that I have struggled with because I am someone who needs concrete proof to believe in things. It is hard for me to take someone's word for it, and it is especially hard for me now that I can make my own decisions about things. I grew up religious for the most part, but began questioning everything in middle school. Even now, I have so much confusion about it all. I totally understand your poem because I have been in the same situation for a long time. I do not want to be someone that blindly follows a faith, but I also want to believe. I think it is easy for all of us to feel lost, and I'm still trying to find an answer.

It is human to question, and it is also human in equal measure, to believe ... strange as it may be, those who have something outside themselves to hold on to are statistically happier - makes one wonder if in fact religion has an evolutionary purpose ...
Minor edits to suggest
knows (in title)
The rest IS learned
Maybe being an atheist is an answer
(Or) maybe atheists have the answer
(Or) maybe atheism is the answer

It’s hard for me to believe it when prayers were never answered. I use to pray every night as a child to not have to live with my abusive parents. And for my sister who was being used as a sex Slave to be safe. She ended up being beaten to death by my parents.

It’s hard for me

Hi Dee, go worship a cabbage, at least if it gives you the hump you can cook and scoff it :))
