Getting Old

this is a jokey poem. nothing else

The telling signs

of getting old

I started off young

trim and cute

with thick dark

hair

and my very own teeth

I could run

jump and play

I ended up

fat

wrinkled

false teeth

tits sagging

and my arse

has dropped

so low

to where

it's nearly

touching

the back

of my knees

I have that

many wrinkles

If I safety pinned

all the loose bits.

I could make

a new one of me.

I can not

even walk very far

so need a tuned up

wheelchair now

to get around.

My hair is white

and thinning

My eyes so dim

My lenses on my

glass so thick

they look like

the bottoms

of coca cola

bottles

The odd time

I smell of pee

My memory is fading

My heart is still young

and oh god I love a

good laugh.

Very well spoken! And somehow, your short, sharp lines seem to confirm that you ae still young at heart!
And having a laugh is very good for the mind, boy and soul! My trouble is ( because I am pretty much like you) that I can't seem to take anything seriously! Either I have gone very cynical, or there is so much nonsense around! I come to Writers café for a bit of sanity!!!
