Take What You Wish. Cathartic Help For Me...

I write because I need to feel

and understand.
I guess a bit like communicating

with oneself from the inside

out.

I also understand that is why

I turned to poetry.

As if it is my counsellor

helping me when I had troubles

and can not understand

myself no more

or situations around me

let alone dramas caused by

outside influences.

I can do nothing about.

Poetry is like a friend

to me.

Someone I talk with

helping me understand

things.

And hopefully guide

me to some safety.

I don't write my stuff

so people can criticize

or make me look foolish

I do it plainly as it helps me.

If this helps someone else.

I am so very glad.

As I hate suffering

and upset of any kind.

And I guess writing this

and all my others stuff

is for me cathartic healing

and maybe also helping

someone else along the

way. I am far from a

Saint or special

I am just a human being

trying to survive on this planet

that is all.

Just being honest with myself.

This is a very reflective piece, much like a journal entry in the sense that the material is raw and seemingly uncensored.

You describe not just the process of poetry but what it actually is. It is a tool to help one understand, to share and to inspire. I agree with you in that I find the best way to understand a situation or an emotion is to write about it, only then (once I have reread it or as I am writing it) can I truly see how I feel. Sometimes it is the action of picking up a pen or typing on your computer (or which ever form one chooses) that can bring the truth to the surface.

Judging from your bio you've faced a lot in your life. In my view, you have lived, and as you say, you are still here. You are still writing, and that means you are still fighting.

Sometimes words themselves do not solve the problems, but communication ( by spirit and empathy) can often achieve so much. Your catharsis may well be the "salvation" for someone else. The important thing, Dee is...does it help YOU.? If so, you have fully justified your poem

Norman, thank you for talking to me. Sometimes. I do feel better. And other times to be honest worse. But later I am always glad I wrote what I did. I guess. As hopefully it does help someone else. Even if it does not help me. Sounds daft but true. I sometimes think maybe I should not write stuff online. Then thing. Why not. I am me. One life and this is it. To hell. I am doing it.

If you don't write online, Dee, your words cannot reach anyone else. What you write always makes sense, even to those that may not feel they need it. Kèep up planting, your seeds may be more fruitful than you know?
