Beauty of Sunflowers...

Sunflower all around me

Big bright and beautiful

smiling yellow infectious faces.

As I walk across this sunshine field

I walk between them

touching their long bodies with

my fingers tips.

And the sweet smell of candy

drift in the breeze.

Making me think of Christmas

and candy canes.

The sun is shining and it's

a beautiful day.

The Sunflowers are tall and

proud and elegantly swaying

in the gentle wind.

I feel such peace and calm

fill my senses.

And such joy

at being with nature.

The thing I like most about your poem is how you make it feel like a walk thru a sunflower field, very dynamic with movements & detailed observations. I love that you describe something familiar in new ways, like the candy cane comparison, very strange, made me stop & think, but then I got that astringent smell. You write like you think . . . many writers don't spill it so carelessly & still have it come out sounding like conversational storytelling (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie
