The Apple Tree

The Apple Tree

A Poem by Onlyme

We have an apple tree in our garden
and basically, it was a thin long twig
when we got it with some roots in the end.

Over the years. I have watched it grow
and spread its branches and plump up
and take root fully.

And bear such large fresh apples
each summer time.

It makes me think about us as humans
How we are basically nothing when we are born

But with love, nurishment and
time and dedication from others. And
ourselves.
We slowly start to grow and learn
and reach out and become more.

Just like the apple tree.

It took shelter from us. It got food from
the soil And water from the rain. And help
from us with pruing it. And each new day
it grows and grows.

The sunlight and darkness every day
given it time to sleep and heal.
As well as reaching for the sky and
enjoy the sunlight.

Like us. It lives and breaths.
And with great care can last a long time
on earth. Far beyond our human years.
Some trees.

Well written. I like how you use the life path of an apple tree to relate to the development of a person's life. Simple yet powerful words.
