Amy the ballet dancer....

Amy the ballet dancer....

A Poem by Onlyme

Amy loved to dance
from an early age
always on her tiptoes

Prancing and dancing
around the living room
at any golden opportunity, she got.

She declared at an early age.
Her chosen career
was to be a ballet dancer.

We enrolled Amy
at a ballet school
at just 7 years of age.

She was dedicated and
disciplined
and loved every
minute of her dream.

We watched her flourish
and mature.
Going to every annual show,
they put on
for parents and staff.

When she was 18. Amy was involved in
a terrible car accident. And lost part of
her lower left leg. She was heartbroken.

But with help and support
and understanding
from her consultant and
physical therapist. Amy got
a prophetic lower left leg and after
awhile start to get used to having it
and being part of her.

She became that good.
Amy started to learn to dance again
with it on.

The moral of this tale is Amy rejoined
ballet school. And graduated. And
dances still to this day.

No matter what obstacles come your
way. You can overcome them. With love,
determination and a strong will
to overcome.

Don't get me wrong. Amy also got days
of darkness and frustration and wanting to
give up. During her recuperation and the new
journey to go forwards. But she brushed
herself down. And got back up again.

Rome was not built in a day.

And if anything is worth fighting for
you take all the time you need to get
there.
