Bedtimes are not always safe places.....

Bedtimes are not always safe places.....

A Poem by Onlyme

In bed in the dark,
under the covers
tucked up tightly
hiding with your head
actually beneath the
blankets.

Laying still breathing
as quietly as you most
possibly can.

Waiting for the monster
to enter your room.

The fear is mounting
and your dreadful hell
is coming
near.

In he comes. His presence
is overbearing.

He says. In a drunken voice
are you asleep yet?

You think to yourself
Do I answer or ignore?
Will he go away again
if I ignore him?

He hears your breath and touches
the bed and sits down at your legs.

His hand moves up the covers and touches
your legs and bum.
Your fear builds as does
your anxious and waiting for the coming hell
that is going to happen next to you.

You try to block out.
How you are feeling.

You start to go numb.
As he starts to sweet talk you.
And lift your covers...
