The Dedicated Marathon Runner.

The Dedicated Marathon Runner.

A Poem by Onlyme

The dedicated marathon runner
He is always out on his beat.
Early in the morning to last
a thing at night.

Watching what he eats,
but making sure he eats what
he needs,  to keep his bones and
heart. Fit for the long haul ahead.

At the gym on the treadmill, pumping
some iron as well.

Enters every marathon.
Medals galore
decorating his home.

His family are proud of his determination
progress and what he does for pour enjoyment
and devotion.

When he gets an injury.
He never moans or groans.
Just deals with the fact.
Gets it sorted.
And off he goes again.
Building up stamina
and strength for the
good old long runs again.

I was never much cop at long distance running but have clocked up two marathons in my time.. both for charity and both completed very slowly.. actually, the last one took just over 26 hours coz me and the naughty boys club then called the TWC each ran a mile an hour for 26 hours.. now that was something never to be repeated, at least by me... nice little poem acknowledging the dedication of the long distance/marathon man... Alan Sillitoe would be proud of ya... All Good Things.. Neville

Sort of resembles life in a way. For a lot of us. We take our lumps and carry on. Determined and resilient.

So true Ana, we get up and carry on. Exactly. Nicely said. Thanks Dawn.
