A carers life

A carers life

A Poem by Onlyme

A carers' life is never done.
They are constantly putting
others before themselves.

Sometimes,  from a very early age.

Looking after fellow siblings
and doing household chores.
Maybe is even looking after
a parent on top.

To is even feeding them,
clothing them and taking them
to the toilet.

As well as assisting them
with their medical needs.
A carer can come in all ages,
sex, sizes.
As well as from many countries.
A universal theme.

I know there are organizations
that help to support the carers and
maybe even give them a
break.

The odd time from their duties of
helping that other soul.

So that they can spend a little
time doing what they wish for
a change.

So, they bring in someone else to
their home.
To help that person they assist.
To give them that time alone.

But a caregiver.
Is a selfless person who
gives they're all for
others. No matter.

Even if they are
family members or
not.

I admired a Carer.
The true sense of the word.
Not, the stories you see
and read in the newspapers
about carers abusing others.
No way, not them.

The decent, thoughtful, kind,
honest, caring, sweet ones.
Who love the people
they help and assist and love.

I/we discovered the carers group organised trips out - no cover to take over the duties of the carer
SO she would be left alone - uncared for - "Only for a day" they said

She wants a day out more than me - I can get around - she requires help - she want to meet other people
No it is for you only

OK we will just go for rides in the car and NOT MEET OTHER PEOPLE - stop pay my subs

This country would collapse without carers.
Especially when you think, kids can be carers for parents.
But it's an army unappreciated in Britain.
Definitely undervalued and underpaid. Unlike that lot in Westminster.

needs a few edits...but is definitely a portrait of a caregiver, and the energy and love expended to take care of the one who needs the looking after.
