THIS BOY WITHIN

Been thinking about my mother. She died some years ago. I think of how she used to be when I was a kid. The anniversary of her death is in a few weeks. I will read these words when the time is right.

Remembers how his mother loved

Remembers how, remember how

You made my life, you gave me all

Your love for me was your life's work

The things you did you did for me

Your son am I in all I am

You are alive in all I am

I see you now ... alive in me

Your boy I am forevermore

I see you looking down on me

You smile, o how you smile in me!

I feel your arms around me now

Your love for me is my keep safe

Within this boy, in me, deep safe

This is far, far more than a tribute, this is absolute love given, shared, returned.. and, also, retained to pass on and on to your own children. And, from how you write of your darling mother, she'd be thrilled to have that happen.

I had to read those last three lines over and over, they're beautiful.

This touched me deeply, the love...my own mother is ill and I will ache like this when she is gone. Touching and beautiful, dear poet :)

Again, I'm touched deeply by the way you look at life. It reminded me of the colourful Russian dolls, one inside the other, embracing and being embraced, holding and being held safely. There is no waste as we push forward into eternity. There is only inclusion and protection. It's lovely how you've captured this image with so much feeling!

You could not have given your dearest Mother a better tribute than this poem that speaks so much of how much she meant to you, of how she lives on in all you do, and of how she continues to influence you! It is all so very beautiful, but the last two lines give me cause to quake with admiration and feeling for the both of you!

Cheers Sheila .. mother's love rules. Watching how my wife was with our kids was one of the the most magical moments and sort of reminded me how it was when I was a little one.
