Labels

Idk if this really qualifies as a poem but, I just felt like I should share my little rant from earlier today, and I didn't know what other type of writing to put it in?

I'm not just trans, I'm a lot of other things that are more important to defining who I am. I just hate labels, they're annoying and people get too clingy to them because they don't have enough self assurance to be their own person.

Can't stand when people find out I'm trans and try to treat me like I'm a delicate little flower.

I'm not a victim, I'm a person who's going to do something in this world, regardless of if my gender identity matches what's in my pants.
I don't need these people's condescending 'help' because I should be offended about every little thing some transphobic peice of trash says. I don't care what was said, because its just words, and I have enough confidence in my abilities to not be affected by someone that doesn't like me.

I wish people would stop putting their little labels on, and using it as an excuse as to why they haven't done anything in their life.
"But, I'm trans, so I'm oppressed, that's why I haven't done this."
No, you haven't because you aren't motivated, that's the real problem.
"But I'm gay so-"
Stop.

"As a POC I have to deal wi-"
Everyone has s**t they have to deal with.

Labels aren't excuses, and they don't make who you are.

this isn't meant to be perfectly written, honestly it's just something I feel strongly about in regards to using labels as excuses and only focusing on said labels instead of character.
