Change

Sometimes I lie awake at night,
And remember how we were.
Two people leading different lives,
So how did this occur?

Out of the blue and unexpected,
Then I fell to your way of words.
I don't understand how this happened,
It's as if I was under a curse.

How did I cope, or could not see?
When it was like that every day.
Why did you walk all over me?
Now there's a price I have to pay.

Feelings change as the world moves on,
Yet I still don't understand why.
I don't miss you anymore,
That's definitely not a lie.

These days you seem so mean, I find,
What did I do for this?
You're so hard to understand,
So the thoughts I just dismiss.

There was a side to you I fell for,
Now I wonder if it was all in my mind.
I'm left with the person I don't recognise,
The other side, I can't seem to find.

I want to know how it was for you,
And why you act this way.
You're childish and immature,
And won't leave me alone for a day.

It's eating away at me every time,
That you pass me as you walk.
I wonder what you'd say,
If we were ever now to talk.

I remember every word you said,
I wonder if you'd find that strange.
Do you ever think of that time, at all?
When did you start to change?
