Screams

Screams

A Poem by Lisasview

Screams....

The house is cold from screams;
the silence now but a whisper of tears.

A dark room, a closed door;
I feel the emptiness of being here before.

Again, alone I feel ...
searching open handed for life,
the draining of it already gone from my body.

Alone, I feel again upon returning,
my life an empty shell of dreams.

The house is cold from screams,
all but the one endless within me ...

Some people base their entire philosophy off of the concept that suffering is the natural state of existence. Not only is suffering to an extent inescapable, it is required, life is defined more than anything by it's presence or absence.
Everything as we know it is a distorted representation of some timeless amoral undefinable urge to exist. Humans cannot distinguish between invention and discovery when it comes to individual existence. I think you would be a fan of Arthur Schopenhauer's writing. (The World as Will and Representation)

Silent screams within the home.....it speaks to me of restlessness and some frustration with the situation. Quite often there is not much life to be found in cold, barren places and when we find ourselves stuck in such an environment, its no wonder we despair about our circumstances. Your choice of Munch's "The Scream" is a very appropriate piece of artwork and complements the words written. A haunting piece of inner turmoil, dear Lisa. ⚘

Whoa, I very much enjoy reading a poem that is 50 years old. Interesting thing, people feel this same way today and will 50 years from now probably. Your poetry is timeless. Tyfs

Thank you so much..Wow the word Amazing.how kind.
First of all let me say how sorry I am you are having trouble posting, it can be so aggravating, it’s happened to me a couple times but I easily got them in on a second and third time so I’m stumped as to why you are having trouble.

As for the poem, yes, love it! I love the dark poems and the feel in this is so familiar, that haunting silence except the echoes between the ears, even for one hour is bad enough but a night full is maddening and then comes dawn and they are over powered by the daily hustle, then end of the day rinse and repeat. But really good poetry comes out of the dark.

Seems we can never go 'home' especially when it never really WAS the home we wished so hard for...

You paused... I paused because I wanted to 'taste' the person you are ...a 'good' one, a real one. And THAT matters.

This is a chilling recognition of Deja Vu. I reminded of a favorite quote: "If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost; that is where they should be. Now put foundations under them.” –Henry David Thoreau. I'm certain the years of my life have been spent laying one brick at a time. I greatly enjoyed the read. F.
