While You Slept

While You Slept

A Poem by Britteny
"

Anxiety sucks. I battle this demon every night. I in no way hold it against the subject I wrote about.

"

While you Slept

What if I were to tell you

That while you slept

My thoughts played on repeat

The switch broke and won’t turn off

That while you slept I lived a million what ifs

And thousands of if onlys played on repeat

That while you slept

I ran an infinite amount of laps

Ran the entirety of marathons

That while you slept

I felt every sensation

All my nerve ending ignite

That while you slept

I penned a hundred lists

And crossed off tasks one by one

That while you slept

I was diagnosed

At least a dozen times

That while you slept

My body yearned and ached

To do the very same
