![]() Spoken WordsA Poem by Nina C Palmer![]() When honest words are met with silence![]() What is a word, could it reach the stars? Will it find its way even to the skies For if it were composed just so It could answer thought filled eyes A word, you see, cannot be But a sound formed by tongue Its effect has such power Whether whispered or sung And as it leaves my gentle lips Will it fly to your inattentive ear? Or will it glide off your rigid shoulder And find its way back to here Returning to its earnest speaker Now covered in bitten frost For if it falls on deafened ears Do not believe it to be forever lost For those resounding words Would be so dearly held with shame Inside my open wounded heart The very heart, from which it came© 2014 Nina C PalmerFeatured Review
