Kiss My Scars Goodbye

Kiss My Scars Goodbye

A Poem by Jim Pike

Bruises tell a tale, fade of blackish blue
to coppery bronze, lose their lines, feathered
colors bleed, like fabric dye inside my skin.

eyes curious, flash back again, like sun upon her
silvery cross, accepting the gaze of a stranger,
smiling eyes, inquisitive wistful whereabouts

Temporary tattoo, perishing evidence of scene,
statute of limitations run out, bruises run along,
hear them sigh, kiss my scars goodbye
